Vermont Public - Sonic ID Animations

After editing a story for the radio, Vermont Public radio producers often end up with hours of beautiful audio that doesn’t make it into the final piece because it doesn’t quite fit into the story or because it needs to be cut for time.

They started editing some of this audio down into “Sonic IDs.” On air in between programs, producers play these 30-second clips of Vermonters talking about the joy of playing pickleball, life on the farm, their first injection of testosterone.

The goal of sharing these sonic slices of life is to delight listeners and remind them of the Vermont Public’s mission: to share stories from every corner.

To reach more of their audience, producers wanted to share these audio clips on social media. Their team asked me to create animations that accompanied the audio and would keep folks engaged while they took in these short sonic stories.

The animations are 9:16 to work on Instagram and TikTok.
